Sample Collection

Sample Collecting and Processing:

BCCB is designed to handle clear plastic clamshells 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.0 cm for human tissues and 2.0 ml cryogenic vials for blood and urine samples.

The procesing procedure for samples includes:

  • Human tissue.
    1. Indication of ischema time.
    2. Arrival in Pathlogy.
    3. Preservation time.

The gold standard is no longer than 15 minutes from ischema time to the moment the specimen is snap frozen.

All samples are placed in prepared clamshells and imemdiately snap frozen in a small LN2 mobile tank.

  • Blood and urine collection and processing.
    1. Indiciation of time after filling the Vacutainer tubes and containers.
    2. Transferring the specimens to BCCB lab in ice.
    3. Centrifugation of blood specimens with removal and storage of plasma.
    4. Aliquotion 0.5-1.0 ml of plasma or 1.5 ml of urine into cryogenic vials.
