POLICY STATEMENT
 
Work outside the university may be performed provided that it does not conflict with the staff member's assignments and responsibilities at the university or violate state regulations. The appropriate supervisor may require reports of full-time staff members concerning how they are meeting their obligations to the university. In addition, the supervisor may request reports of any relevant professional activity. If it is deemed that a potential conflict of interest could arise, that conflict of interest must be declared to the university prior to acceptance of the outside work.
 
REASON FOR POLICY 
 
The university realizes that staff members are often asked to work outside the university because of their professional expertise and/or capacity within the institution.
