We have finally solved the problem with having a search limited to SPHIS.

In the upper-right corner of the SharePoint window, just under your name, you'll see a box with "All SPHIS" and an empty box to the right.

Type in your search words and click the search icon. You'll get matches from everywhere in SPHIS regradless of where you do the search.

If you want to limit the search to where you are, click the down-arrow in the "All SPHIS" box and click the location you want to limit the search to. The list of options will vary depending on where you are.

FAQ exerpt:

3. Does the DCL mean that schools cannot use emerging technology?

A: No. On the contrary, the Department encourages schools to employ innovative learning tools. Because technology is evolving, it has the capability to enhance the academic experience for everyone, especially students with disabilities. Innovation and equal access can go hand in hand. The purpose of the DCL is to remind everyone that equal access for students with disabilities is the law and must be considered as new technology is integrated into the educational environment.

The schedule lists each class for each course during the week. There are three different views of each schedule:
  • by course -- sorted by course ID with classes for a course in day sequence
  • by day -- sorted by day and start time
  • by instructor -- sorted by instructor (including those in addition to the course director)
The schedule does not yet include classrooms, which are assigned several weeks before the start of the term. An updated schedule is published after classrooms are assigned.

Academic Affairs and Student Services have developed an electronic course scheduling system that was tested for Fall 2011. The system automatically generated the three schedule views, in addition to the submission needed by the registrar, and checking for instructor 'double-bookings," inconsistent schedule data (e.g., credit hour-class time match), and missing data needed for scheduling (e.g., day and time for classrooom course).

We are rolling out the scheduling system to the pargrams and departments over the next several months in preparation for school-wide use for Spring 2012 course scheduling.

Including Undergraduate Public Health Degree Programs in Your Self-Study Document
11/16/2010 4:59 PM

As part of our strategy for a BS in public health, we have submitted a proposal for an introductory course for freshmen and sophomores that satisfies part of the undergraduate requirements for general education. The proposal is posted on our SharePoint home page. Information about general education is available on the Provost's website. Feedback is welcome.

This course is not part of the curriculum for the BS in public health. It is intended to introduce and interest undergraduates in public health and to recruit student into the BS major. More on the BS program will be available in the next several months.
