Contributing to an SPHIS SharePoint Site
Permission Needed to Contribute
If you go to contribute to a part of the site and don't see a choice to click that is called for below, it usually means you don't have permission to contribute to that part of the site.
Names of Site Parts
Each of the site parts discussed below may have been renamed in a site. For example, Shared Documents may be named simply Documents or perhaps Team Documents. Regardless of the part's new name, the directions below apply to the part.

Adding an Announcement

Do one of:

If you're on a page with more than just Announcements part and there's a choice to Add new announcement at the bottom of the part, click Add new announcement.

If you're on a page with more than just Announcements part and there's no choice to add new announcement at the bottom of the part, click the heading Announcements, then click New button at the top of the Announcements list.

If you're on an Announcements list, click New button at the top of the list.

Enter the Announcement information as appropriate.

Click OK button.
Editing an Announcement

Click the highlighted title of the Announcement you want to edit.

Click Edit Item button.
-
Edit the Announcement's information.
-
Click OK button.
Deleting an Announcement

Click the highlighted title of the Announcement you want to delete.

Click Delete Item button.
- Click OK button in the dialog box.

Do one of:

Enter the event information as appropriate.

Click OK button.

Click the highlighted title of the event you want to edit.

- To delete the single occurrence of the event:

Click Delete Item button.

Click OK button in dialog box.
- To delete all occurrences in the event series:

Click Edit Series button.

Click Delete Item button.

Click OK button in dialog box.
Adding a Shared Document

Make sure you know where the document you want to add is located on your computer.

Do one of:
-
Click Browse... button to locate and click the name of the document you want to add.

Enter the document's properties.
- Click OK button.

Hover over the highlighted name of the document whose properties you want to edit, then click the drop-down arrow that appears to the right.

Click Edit Properties.

Edit the document's properties.

Editing a Shared Document in SharePoint

Hover over the highlighted name of the document whose properties you want to change, then click the drop-down arrow that appears to the right.

Click Edit Document in <application> (e.g., Word, Excel).

Note: If the choice is not present, either you don't have permission to edit the document or its editing is not supported in SharePoint. In the latter case, you need to edit the document on your computer then upload it again.

Edit the document.
-
Save the document (automatically saves it back to where it came from in SharePoint). DO NOT USE Save as.
Deleting a Shared Document

Hover over the highlighted name of the document you want to delete, then click the drop-down arrow that appears to the right.

Click Delete.
- Click OK button in the dialog box.

Hover over the highlighted URL of the link you want to edit, then click the drop-down arrow that appears to the right.

Click Edit Item.

Edit the Link's information.

Deleting a Link

If you're on a page with more than just Links part, click the heading Links at the top of the part.
Hover over the highlighted URL of the link you want to delete, then click the drop-down arrow that appears to the right.
Click Delete Item.
Click OK button in the dialog box.
